４月７日 Day 39 in the Philippines
「マニラから７時間でサーフィンできるバレールという場所がある」
昨日行った理恵ちゃんの先生の家で会った男性が教えてくれた。
I heard from Rie’s teacher’s friend, about a place
where I can surf, that is 7hours by bus from Manila. The place is Baler.
今はフィリピンで一番大きい連休中。ホテルもバスも予約も取れず、情報も未定。
Because this is the biggest holiday in the Philippines, Holy week,
I couldn’t reserve a bus seat or a hotel. It’s very difficult to find infomation.
でも、行けば何とかなるだろうと、久しぶりに一人でブラッと旅することにした。
But I decided to just wing it and take the trip alone, hoping that it all works out somehow.
やっぱ一人旅って気楽でいいんだよね。
I am more comfortable traveling alone.
流れる景色と時間。考える事から、感じる事へシフト。
When travelling, the landscape blends with the flow of time.
One stops thinking and starts only to feel.
レンタルボードを借りて久しぶりに大自然の中でのサーフィン。
I rented a board and went surfing in nature, which I have’t done in a while.
グリーンの温水プールみたいな水。フレンドリーなローカル。
The green water was warm, like in a heated pool. The local are friendly.
腰サイズの波なので、ファンボードを借りて、ゆったりとサーフ。
I used a fun board in the small waves, and relaxed while surfing.
「自分はこの場で調和してるだろうか？」 それが、今回のサーフィンのテーマ。
“Am I in harmony with this place” This is the theme of this surfing moment.
最後のサーフィンから、自分がどれだけ変わったか、それを海は教えてくれる。
The ocean teaches me how much I I’ve grown in surfing since my last trip.
海でのコミニケーションを含めて、人にも海にも自然に溶け込んでるかを意識した。
Being in harmony with the place allows me to focus on
all aspects of surfing – communicating in the sea, the people, the landscape
自然って不思議だよね。ガツガツしてると景色も見えないし、波も取れないんだけど、
I wonder about nature because if I’m greedy for wave,
I have a narrow view and I can’t catch the wave.
調和を意識すると、なぜか良い波が自分のところにやってくるんだよね。
But if I focus on the harmony in the sea, good waves come to me.
サーフィンは人生そのものだよ。
Surfing is just like life.
海からあがってサンセットを見ながらビールを飲んでいた。
After surfing I drank beer while watching the sunset.
シャイだからね。一人静かにやってたわけですよ。
I am sitting quietly, alone, enjoying the nature, because I’m more reserved.
すると一人のフィリピン人に話しかけられた。
Then , a Filipino guy talked to me.
そこから気づくとあっという間に大人数の輪の中にいてＢｉｇ Partyが始まった。
Then next thing I knew, I was with a big group of people.
ギターの上手いのがいて、仲間内で生演奏＆カ ラオケ開始。
Some of them, went on stage. one played guitar very well.
思いっきり楽しんだ後、一人で歩いていると「日本人？」と声をかけられた。
After the party, as I was walking to my hotel, some guy, with interesting appeal, asked me if I was Japanese.
なかなか魅力のある男だったので、少し語ることにした。この後この出会いは思わぬ方向へ・・・。
This was unexpected encounter..
そんな感じの楽しい一日だったけど、特に心に残る場面をちょっとシェアしたいと思います。
Today was good day, I had a good time. I want to share the highlight of this day, this heart-warming scene.
バーで楽しく飲んでると、Ｊｕａｎという心あるメンズが忘れられない言葉を言った。
While I was enjoying drinking at the bar, a guy named Juan, told me something unforgettable…

「俺たちは外国人に興味があるんだ」
“We are interested in foreigners”
「そして最大限楽しんでもらう。それが俺らの趣味なんだ」
“We make efforts for them to enjoy as much as possible. This is our hobby”
・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・
楽しんでもらうのが趣味？それがフィリピン人なんだって。
Make efforts for to enjoy? ” This is the Filipino way”
心に感じたあの温かさを今もハッキリと覚えてるよ。
I clearly remember, the heart-warming feeling.
みんなありがとう。おかげで一人でもとっても楽しかった。
Thank you everyone, I was alone, but I enjoyed because of you.
世界中でどこが良かった？って聞かれたらこれからはこう答えるよ。
If someone asks me “What is the best country you’ve visited so far?” I would say…
「フィリピンだよ」って。
